[http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/2443 Originally developed] in [[1996]], Beagle SQL began as a learning project that evolved into a usable, educational [[database management system]].  However, after a year or so of development, other databases such as [[mSQL]] and [[MySQL]] grew in popularity and left Beagle SQL behind.

While now only useful for educational research, Beagle SQL offers developers a glimpse into building a basic database management system in the [[C (programming language)|C programming language]].
